FlameMeister - CAM
What is a Combustion Air Modulator?
The CAM device is designed for installation on the intake air pipe of dual certified, sealed combustion, condensing, gas appliances which use PVC or ABS piping systems and outdoor air for combustion (2 pipe installations ).
CAM may be installed on vertical and horizontal piping. CAM allows for simultaneous modulation of outdoor to indoor combustion air as needed to minimize fluctuations in burner operation, reduce CO, and regain efficiency lost due to inadequate combustion air.
Some of the situations the CAM device is designed to compensate for:
Frosted and snow blocked intake pipe.
Entrance of debris into intake pipe ( leaves, insects, etc. ).
Compensate for direct wind causing increased static pressure.
For residential use only. Not intended for the primary combustion air, CAM is a temporary safety device to allow supplemental ambient combustion air to the appliance using the barometric damper of the device to maintain proper combustion and prevent equipment shutdown.
NOT to be installed in a confined space that does not meet the minimum requirements of 50 cubic feet per 1000 BTUh of the maximum input ratings of all gas appliances in the space. Refer to National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z 223.1 / NFPA 54,9.3.2.2 for guidance.
